How to use your website to develop your company

Websites are the future.

My friend had his website and he was so happy but I looked at him and I smiled in my mind. He was so enthusiastic about owning one that the message was clear; all his business problems were going to end! His business will be totally transformed! But after a few weeks he didn’t want to hear about it anymore.
Using a website to transform your business is very tricky. If you assume that because it is on the internet it will work miracles by itself then you are up for an entrepreneurial judo right at your chin!

It is common practice to see companies with websites that adds nothing to their businesses. To them it is a necessary devil that extracts scarce cash from them annually.

Your website can affect the various people who you deal with; customers or clients or church members, suppliers or sponsors, employees, competitors, the company itself among others.
Am going to use the following constructs to drive my point home; services, information, promotion, networking, intelligence. I would emphasis here that none of these constructs is important than the other. For instance companies like Facebook, Google, airline companies, universities and so on uses websites to offer about 90% of their services.  An effective communication campaign can be spearheaded by internet buzz and bring success to a company.

Services
If you want to take your website seriously and transform your business with it, use it to offer services; not just ordinary services but services that relates to your core product. For instance, some public speakers use their website to register audiences who would be attending their programme but they can maximize the benefit through online streaming for a fee.  Companies like Amazon and others sell their products solely by use of their website.

Information
Nothing brands like a website. For instance, when a new product is in town people try to find out more about it by visiting your website. When you are fresh and the interest is high, that is when you should have valuable information that would attract customers to whatever you are doing. Think about those who will visit it and provide all the questions they will like to ask.

Get a marketer to write your website for you and then give the details to a designer; they are two different people with different functions.

Most people don’t own a website and all they do is design something nice and put it on Facebook; you will only attract people who know you already and not new ones. Why? Because those knew people would like to find out more about you before they patronize your services, people are careful, if they can’t find anything about you forget it, they won’t come! Customer behavior has changed long ago!

If we want change we have to throw away the old ways of doing things. My favorite mantra is ‘nothing changes until you change’!

Promotion
Everybody is a salesman. Whether you think you are selling or not you are still selling as long as you want to connect to new people and buy your offer.  See your website as an extension of you and provide all the details about that product you are selling.
Make it easy for your client to buy; easy registration, downloading of forms, providing email and contacts are very effective ways of ensuring your website benefits your company.

Networking
Your customers and the world should access you easily and quickly wherever they are. Nothing is as important as having something to represent you anywhere at any time. Your website will go to homes that you will not have the courage to enter; it will travel continents that you will never dream of going!
Again, having and joining communities on social media websites keeps you always in their minds. People buy from you when they are familiar with you.
Use your website to access the profile of your clients; using your web analytic, you can know their location, the wants, occupation and so on. Use this information to configure your products.

Competition
Your website has the capability of branding your company. As people surf your website, they have a feel of who you are. Hence make sure you update your information so that whenever they come, they will have something new.
Defend your brand with your website. If you don’t have one, it means you are already out of the competition! Your beautiful face on the Facebook design is not enough to win new clients. You have to be present and alive and one of the best!
Am very good at this and I can help you; just contact me. Read more of my articles on websites.
