Why LOSE your drive in life?

When you don’t get employed it’s like you are bitten by a bug and you can’t rid yourself from its venom. You feel a general discontent with almost everything you do. The jobs that you used to do that gave you pleasure do not interest you. The discontent grows when you see your friend’s success, unhappiness with your present work; your big dreams and how slow your life is improving. Your mind can’t let it go and so it brings down your mood and all your projects and activities comes to a standstill. Nevertheless it can dry up.

Most people can identify with any of the situations below;

•             You are being pushed to go for a job that you don’t want

•             You can’t get a job

•             People don’t believe in you and try to discourage you from starting your own business

•             Uncertainty about your own skills

These situations seem to drain the blood out of you and you feel you are fighting yourself.  Any of these factors can combine to kill your drive, but you need to pick yourself up. There is another alternative for you; be an entrepreneur. There is at least the path of the entrepreneur before you, follow it. However, before this entrepreneurial path is taken some questions and ideas must be answered.

•             How can this small business impact my life?

This is one of the reasons why most people don’t want to start their own business no matter the ideas have. Most people, before looking for jobs put it in the context of their general livelihood. They consider how the job can help them further their education, build their house, get a car, raise a family and so on. But we have to understand that benefiting from business can be from our mindset. If you set your priorities right, your business can provide you what you need in life. It might take a longer time but you would get. Most people have catered for their families and raised their children to reach prominent positions through their ordinary business. There are people in suit and tie who are broke while those who do jobs we don’t respect earn much higher income.

Respect your business, be dedicated and you can harvest so much from it.

•             How can I survive without working for a company?

We have to understand that not everybody would get employed. Governments are doing their best but there is still unemployment. Employ yourself. When you are a fresh graduate most people would not give you a managerial position. Who would allow you use their business for trial and error when you don’t have the experience? Don’t let your drive for life diminish, start something. Most rich men we see today worked for themselves. Establish something for yourself and work at it till you succeed. Most people compromise too much.

•             I don’t have any support.

This is one of the commonest situations in our days. You’ve had some education and everybody wants you to go and find a job when you want to work for yourself. Not having support can be very discouraging. Most people would like you to do any job even one which is different from the one you were not trained for.  You have to understand that one of the purposes of education is to bring out the best in you. Everybody have something in them and when you receive education in that area use it to develop and become a master. You need to believe in yourself. There is some power in self belief that can help you wage the war in business success. When you have faced several failures, self belief is what can give you the courage to start over again. 

•             I have limitations.

Everybody has weaknesses. These weaknesses often show in what you don’t like to do. For instance, you might not like to talk to new people when you want to seek sponsorship for your programmes. You can partner with somebody or pay somebody to do your sales for you. There is always a way that can reduce your weaknesses. Find them.  

In summary, don’t sit idle because you are not getting a dream job, by all means do something; life is so precious.  Not long ago, I made this statement and I will repeat it here;

If you don’t believe in yourself and stand up for what you want in life, the chances are that you might never bring out the best in you and achieve anything for yourself and your generation. Moreover, you might end up at the feet of people who would take advantage of you because, if you don’t believe and master yourself, somebody would master and use you.
