How to stop your environment from affecting your productivity

I have seen an ill in business that most people don’t talk about; they treat it as if it doesn’t exist. It is that thing that makes a CEO collapse when they hear something terrible. That thing that reduces your memory so that you forget things easily; you put money somewhere and you can’t remember. That anxiety that sends you to the doctor every week and the doctor counsel’s you to relax but your mind is on autopilot and won’t stop troubling you. You are a young man or woman but your youthfulness is gone so that physically, you look twice your age. You become intolerant and it doesn’t take much time to make you angry. You find that a lot of things militate against your productivity. Somebody makes you angry at home or work and it drains all your energy and spoils your whole day. You are not able to work; even if you work you do it half halfheartedly. You’ve done little work but you are so tired. As business men and women grow they develop all sorts of diseases because of pressure from the environment.  Truly every business problem lives you a baggage of psychological trouble.

When you start a business afresh, you do so with enthusiasm and you work for long hours. You are excited and the 24 hours seem not to be enough. You are dreaming of a million things to do and you bundle all the work together; you are writing articles and books, writing business plans, chatting with clients and pushing everybody to work. You are at your best quality until your environment sets in to ruin your mind. Once the mind is affected, it affects your spirit and productivity diminishes. Your emotions are down and it’s like you are in a cloud and before you realise it, some days are gone without anything been done. With some people, this is their life and it happens frequently so that at the end of the year they’ve done less. If you allow your environment to hit your centre and you panic you lose your productivity.

These are the agents involved in this problem;
People; some people you dislike or they dislike you and seem to create problems for you. They are like gum in your hair; you find them impossible to remove without hurting yourself.

Debt; it could be a loan that you took from the bank and not only are they humiliating you but threatening to put you behind bars.

Failed attempts; sometimes you do everything in the book and nothing works.

Blackmail; somebody threatens to damage your reputation or brand.

Financial hardship; some peoples’ happiness is tied to their bank account. Once the account is dwindled they loss their joy and feel naked. Also when people go through long period of hardship like been without job for a long time. And the list continues.

After stating the problem I need to provide solutions; I’d show you how I handle these situations.

Be inspired.
When something bothers me I share it with one or two people who can help me. I find that this has helped me a lot. People have a way of making me see my blind side; a different view that I had not thought off. A wise person can help you calm your nerves but a troublesome person would inflame it.
You can also get inspiration from books. For instance, there are some chapters in the good book that can help you. I like this one that says, ‘take no thought for what you’d eat or drink, for your heavenly father knows that you’d need those things’. Lets’ not be too superficial or ‘professional’ that we ignore some to these life transforming remedies.

Confront the situation.
You have a customer that you don’t want to pick his calls. You are scared and the problem keeps gnawing you, bring the problem to the fore and solve it. Deal with it quickly for peace sake.

Put your life in order.
Put in your room in order, they have a way of affecting a person mind subconsciously. If money in the bank gives you peace of mind always make sure you have some in there.

Go to bed or take a nap.
In the situation where my mind reels or is on autopilot and I can’t stop, I take a nap. When I wake up my engine would have could down and returned to normalcy.

Pray.
This works for me. It gives me hope that things would change.

Take some time away.
Get some vacation and forget about the cares of the world. Our time on earth is short that’s why we can’t spend all of it worrying.

Take things easy.
If you are grounded so what? It is normal, it can happen to anybody. No situation is permanent.
