IT IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN THAT YOU ARE BUT HIS REVELATION IN YOUR HEART

IT IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN THAT YOU ARE BUT HIS REVELATION IN YOUR HEART

The Revelation of God as our only hope  – My partial commentary on the book of Ephesians

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

EPHESIANS 1:3 (NIV)

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

EPHESIANS 1:18-21 (NIV)

The bible promises so much to Christians. If one were to imagine the ideal situation of Christians, it is a happy people who have all that they want and need.  The scriptures above highlights how we are ‘blessed with all spiritual blessings’, how we are supposed to be ‘to the praise and glory’ and stresses the ‘inheritance’ that is for us.  Paul gave thanks for the Ephesians who got saved because it is a privilege. As a Christian your life should be successful and victorious; you must see your dreams come true.

We are promised such a colorful life. Everything you ever dreamt of, the cars, houses, companies, and family cannot exhaust the provision and promises of God. Sadly, very few Christians have realized these blessings, the reason being that we have failed to comply with God’s prescriptions. For instance, the bible encourages us to give but how many of us give and give well? We fall asleep during morning devotion and miss church services. We have been unable to fulfill our pledges and not maintain consistent holy living. We have failed in most things. This has been our bane.

ALL IN ONE

With all wisdom and understanding, he[d] made known to us the mystery of his Will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

EPHESIANS 1:9-10 (NIV)

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that  ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend  with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ,  which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

EPHESIANS 3:18-19 (KJV)

Having the Word of God is like having an all in one printer, you have all the services combined.

I believe the Word of God is something we shouldn’t fail in. God abounds towards us in all wisdom and prudence. God makes wisdom plenty for us and that is all he does. Ones you have the Will you have access to all the inheritance. The inheritance of God has within it everything you need, wealth, health, properties and all that you want in life.

God revealing his Will to us is His greatest work. He started it with Jesus’ death and the continuation is for him to reveal it to you to make it complete. You need the Will to have access to the inheritance and your destiny. If you find it difficult to live right at least don’t fail in this aspect. This is the core of Christianity. This is the essence of your salvation.

God intends to show us the vastness of our inheritance and what it means to be in such a position. For instance, if you are a king you should know the extent of your authority and what it means to have that power at your disposal.

THE REVELATION

Your only vocation (work) as a Christian is to receive God’s Will via Revelation. Revelation is not trying to understand scriptures through your own effort. Some have used dictionaries and concordances. These are facilitators; they throw more light on what has been revealed to you.

True Revelation is revealed to you in your spirit, so you can’t manufacture it. If you try to read the bible without the Spirit it would be very boring to you. But when you have the anointing and you read the bible, all of a sudden that verse comes alive and you see something you’ve not seen before. It gives faith and sticks permanently like an experience; it leaves a lasting impression on you.

This kind of Revelation is what inspires action. If after bible study or church sermon about tithing, you still don’t tithe it means you did not catch the Revelation. Preachers must stay on their knees till God grant them the grace to preach else people would not be enlightened. The Word of God works only when you have Revelation, because faith and action is by-product of Revelation.

THE CONSEQUENCES

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts:

EPHESIANS 4:18-21 (KJV)

The consequences of not receiving the knowledge of God are alienation from his blessings. It is not the Christian that you are but the Revelation in you. The knowledge of God precedes salvation, wealth and anything you can think about. Everything begins, continues and ends with the Word of God. If you don’t have the Revelation in your heart, you shall not enjoy of any of His blessings. You are out of range.

You can’t set your own rules. Most Christians prefer to pray only. Small Word and more prayers but it should not be so. We must veer from this culture. Word ministers achieve better than those who focus on prayers alone. In the Old Testament, Solomon the man of wisdom was far ahead than the power ministers. Even in modern times, Pastors whose focus is on the Word of God rather than ‘anointing’ have achieved more and done better. They have the biggest churches, have achieved a lot on global scale and they last longer on the scene.

Paul didn’t see Jesus except through Revelation. Yet he did more than all the other disciples who saw Jesus live. Strike a balance between prayer and bible study, and if you have a problem with bible study hastily do something about it.

The Word first; the Word is Jesus, the Word is the ultimate. Prayer and fasting are all facilitators. They are there to make the Revelation happen. Bible says the Lord would do nothing until he reveals his secrets. No miracle without Revelation. Prayer is easy so we pray but Revelation is very difficult. You can’t change the rules. You can’t do anything when you don’t believe, and when you don’t believe it is because you don’t have the revelation in your heart.

The Excellency of the knowledge of Christ implies excellent factual information. Solomon had that and he made silver as cheap as stones in his time. You don’t need anything except the knowledge of God.  Paul threw everything he was and had and went for this. As a matter of fact he made that his ministry.

EMPTY YOUR LIFE

For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and  do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness is of God by faith:

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching for unto those things which are before,

I press toward the market for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

PHILIPPIANS 3:3, 7-14

I can’t say it better than Apostle Paul, so I have quoted him verbatim. This is one of the scriptures that I enjoy reading in the bible.

You can’t go to God with an already full cup, you’d definitely return with nothing. Here, Paul counted his certificates and achievements as nothing. He completely emptied himself of them. To him they were nothing. We believe so much in our certificates and our links or contacts and this has impaired the way we seek God. We are too sure! We seek God totally full so we get nothing. Till you get to the point where you feel like God is your only hope, that you can’t do it without him, you’d not receive anything from Him.

Spend days fasting and praying and ask God to fill you with His wisdom. Sit at the master’s feet till he gives you Revelation.

CONCLUSION

We have a negative culture of praying more and reading less or not reading the Word at all. It is not just the reading but the Revelation that is birthed in your spirit.

We should be giants in Revelation. Revelation comes with faith and with faith you can move every mountain in your way. Word Christians are unmovable.

Studying the Word of God can be as exciting as praying. Our problem is that, we have not lived in that way. We should be lowly minded so that God can show us his Will because every Revelation comes with its own unique blessings.

For this is the covenant that I Will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I Will put my laws into their minds, and write them in their hearts: and I Will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

And they shall not teach every ban his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

For I Will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities Will I remember no more.

Amen
